"Guards? You of all people should know. This was a silent kill. Ther'll be no one who noticed. As for the footprints, they'll fade away in the snow. If they haven't been covered by falling snow as it is." Silver took a look into the room. "We should see if there are any clues first."

"I meant that the killer will get the guards and put us on the spot."
Kaij looked back towards the room himself, "I think we should go before the decision gets made for us by the watch."

"What makes you think the killer even knew were here." Silver shook his head. "But I see your point. I guess we should go."

Kaij nodded then proceeded out through where they came in from.
"Who do you think did it? Dark Brotherhood? A vampire?"
Kaij glanced around, "I feel something's very wrong. And the door's locked. Why is it locked?"
Kaij kept trying to open the door, but to no avail.

Silver tried the door himself but it still didn't work. "I don't think a vampire would use a bow and arrow to kill someone." He then took out his sword. "But if they feel the need to hide, they feel that they are in danger. Which means they can die."

"I like your logic."
Kaij drew his saber.
"They left that way. We could still catch them. Shouldn't be hard with blood on thier shoes."
Kaij jogged through the room with the dead merchant and out into the cold air of Skyrim.
"Keep to the ground. They went that way."
Kaij pointed at the bloody prints in the snow, "I'll catch up."
He ducked in the shadows and vanished.

"What? I'm not a tracker..." Silver looked at the footprints. "They're prominent here but not for long." He looked into the sky and watched snow falling. "I guess I'll just have to be quick." Silver began to follow the foot prints at a brisk pace until they faded away. "There's nothing left to follow." Something caught his eye then. There was a set of footprints with the same pattern as the blood prints, but there seemed to be two conglomeration of footprints that followed the first set. "Maybe I am a good tracker. The killer was meeting to others. They went with the killer. What is this all about?"

"No idea."
Kaij jumped down from the near-by roof he was on.
"I saw a group heading west. Could be our murderer and his friends."

"West?" Silver looked around in every direction. "Which way is that?"

Kaij ran through an ally and down a street, he then moved towards an exit to the town.
"Let's go."

Silver followed Kaij not sure of where they were going. "Who says we're not running into an ambush?"

"I doubt it, our guy's probably thinking he got a clean get away."
Kaij stepped through the gates, "This isn't good."
Two guards lay dead, thier throats slashed. Kaij could hear yells and see the torches of the guard moving around inside the city.
"We are in a bad spot."

"Just letting you know, guards show up and I'm putting down my blade." Silver looked back the way they came from. "Should we try and make a run for it?"

"If we stay, we could try and prove our innocence. We'd be thrown in jail while they check our story, and if they think we killed that merchant, we'll hang. If we go, they'll think we killed him and these two, and we'll hang. I don't like our odds."
Kaij frowned, "We could go to Riften and I could sort out any issues I have with the guild, which I suppose is the best option. Even if they might kill me."

"I don't like any of these options, but Riften would be the best bet. Would we even be able to come back for our money?" Silver heard the guards getting closer. "Not the time to be thinking things over. Let's get out of here."

Kaij nodded and started running down the path away from the city. He stopped at a cave further down the path, panting and taking a seat near the entrance.
"You still with me?"

Silver was not far behind Kaij and stopped when he did. "Yah, I'm still here. I don't think the guards will let up though. They'll probably look around the outside of the city."

Kaij glanced behind them.
"They might just catch us if we sit here talking."

"Can't run any more. Chain mail is heavy..." Silver peered into the cave, but the entrance was too shrouded to see anything. "What about in here?"

Kaij moved into the cave. He could see perfectly through the darkness inside.
"Seems empty."

Silver walked into the cave after Kaij. His eyes adjusted quickly since he was used to going through caves. "Looks and is empty are two very different things."

"I know this."
He glanced around the cave, "Let's keep low and move in slowly. I don't want to deal with necromancers, vampires, or gods forbid, spiders. If we can get the drop on anything in here, that'd be best. Anything's better then going back."
He drew his blade and pressed on.

Silver went ahead of Kaij and quickly came to a fork in the cave. One of which had a pile of crates beside it. "Looks like someone is or was here." Silver quietly walked over the the crates and opened them. There was nothing in any of them.

Kaij listened but heard nothing then moved towards the crates and loked over Silver's shoulder. "That's odd. Who leaves empty crates lying around?"
He looked at the split paths ahead of them.
"Which way should we go? Either one of these could lead to whomever put these here."

"Empty crates either meant the previous hiders left, or they used what they had and are still here. Of course they could be gone to find more supplies and are coming back any time now." Scenarios kept playing through Silver's mind. He's been through so much life that he has seen it all. Almost every possible outcome of almost every situation. "I got to stop thinking so hard about things like this..."
